DietPi

DietPi is an extremely lightweight Debian OS, highly optimised for minimal CPU and RAM resource usage, ensuring your SBC always runs at its maximum potential.

The DietPi project was initially founded by Daniel Knight in July 2014 as a minimal image based on Raspbian with the aim of simplifying and automating server setups on the Raspberry Pi using shell scripts.

As a result, hardware support was expanded to include additional single-board computers and virtualization software. At the beginning of 2015, the source code was published on GitHub.

Since 2019, project management has been handed over from Daniel Knight to MichaIng, who has contributed most of the code since then.

DietPi is compatible with a wide range of SBC like Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, ASUS Tinker Board, NanoPi, Odroid, Pine64, Radxa…

In 2023, 124241 DietPi system shown activity. The most used device being the Raspberry Pi 4.
